Is it respectful for non-Muslim tourists to visit the Kalash Valleys?

Yes the Kalash people welcome respectful visitors and in fact rely on tourism for part of their income. The key word is respectful: our guides will brief you on appropriate dress (covering shoulders and knees), asking permission before photographing individuals, and engaging with humility rather than treating the community as a display. We've maintained excellent relationships in the Kalash valleys for years and take this responsibility seriously.

Can I attend a Kalash festival on this tour?

If you book during festival season, absolutely and it's an extraordinary experience. The major festivals are Joshi (mid-May, spring celebration), Uchau (mid-August, summer), and Chaumos (December, winter solstice the most sacred). Is there a Chitral Airport , can I fly instead of drive?

Yes, PIA operates flights between Islamabad and Chitral Airport, weather permitting. The flight takes about 45 minutes versus 7–8 hours by road. We recommend flying one way and driving the other to see the incredible Lowari Pass scenery. We can arrange airport pick-up/drop-off in Chitral as part of the package.
