Dense pine forests, glacial lakes that mirror the sky, waterfalls that thunder through hidden gorges, and meadows that stretch to the foot of snow peaks. Kalam is raw, real, and utterly unforgettable.

The Valley That Stays With You Long After You Leave
Kalam sits at 2,001 metres in Upper Swat, at the end of the road before the mountains take over completely. It’s the kind of place that surprises you you expect a nice view, and instead you get something that rearranges how you see the world. The Swat River here is no longer the wide, jade stream of the lower valley. It’s a thundering rush of glacial water surrounded by towering deodār cedar forests and peaks that seem almost vertical.
The crown jewel is Mahodand Lake a 45-minute jeep ride and short walk from Kalam, sitting at over 3,000 metres in a wide glacial valley. The lake is famous for its intense turquoise colour, the ring of snow peaks surrounding it, and the absolute silence that falls when the jeep engine stops. Pakistan’s most photographed lake? Possibly. Pakistan’s most beautiful? Many would argue yes.
On this 5-day Kalam Valley tour, Dost Tour and Travel takes you from Islamabad all the way to the heart of this wilderness, through Ushu Forest, to Spin Khwar Falls, and up to Mahodand. We keep groups small, pace thoughtfully, and let the valley speak for itself.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
